Bálint Ágnes Memorial House
The Bálint Ágnes Memorial House is set in the popular children’s writer and television editor’s home of over 60 years, and run by the author’s family as a not-for-profit initiative. The house itself is of historic interest since it was originally built as a hunting lodge by Grof Gyula Andrassy in the 1860s, when the area was still scarcely populated but rich in fowl. We invite you to step inside and discover the person behind the stories, from the precocious young writer who started tapping away at her father’s typewriter as soon as she learnt to write, to the natural born scriptwriter and editor who lent so much spark to the early days of children’s television programming at the nascent Hungarian broadcaster and continued to provide a staple of popular animated and cartoon series over the years. We are open to the public every first Sunday of the month, from March to December (10am to 6pm). We also take bookings for groups to visit, be it for nursery or school children with their teacher or for groups of grown-ups - if you are interested, please do get in touch.
